Requirements

Job Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY: Fabricates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies electronic developmental and production equipment, parts, components, and systems according to engineering instructions; Works under general supervision; performs additional duties as assigned.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide technical support and assistance to assess, inspect and correct system faults primary for AN/URC-131 High Frequency Radio Group (HFRG) Communication Systems and ancillary equipments. Technical support includes identification and resolution of all anomalies associated with installation, operation, maintenance, and connectivity problems on primary for HFRG systems and secondary on other navy communication systems.

2. Provide onboard maintenance training to ship's force technicians in the operation, repair, maintenance, and logistics support of the above listed systems.

3. Perform functional checks and program review support for HFRG systems

4. Report findings/discrepancies as required to the designated TEAM LEADER and/or code Section Head via 2-kilo, Prisms/ETC Software, MAF and/or Technical Assistance Visit Report (TAVR)as appropriate within five working days of completion of individual tasking as applicable.

Required Education:
1. In-depth knowledge of High Frequency Radio Group (HFRG) Communication Systems including a minimum of ten (10) years total hands on experience in troubleshooting, repair, and assessment of HFRG systems/equipments.

2. High School Diploma or GED, plus technical/vocational/military training.

3. Associates Degree preferred.

4. NAVSEA certified for copper and Fiber Optic connectors is a plus.

Required Work Experience:
General Experience: A minimum of twelve (12) years full-time hands-on technical experience in the operation, maintenance, installation, test, and/or repair of electrical/electronic systems/equipment incorporated in Combat or C4I Systems.

Specialized Experience: A minimum of six (6) years full-time engineering experience in Combat or C4I Systems in a supervisory capacity over technicians operating and maintaining Combat or C4I Systems or a similar type of communications system. (1) Team leader performing engineering support services such as (a) engineering change installations (b) technical assists (c) system certifications (d) INSURVs (e) material condition assessments (f) systems installations.

Other Desirable Requirements:
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Hands on experience with the AN/URC-131 HFRG systems/equipment including troubleshooting, repair, and assessments.

2. Special electronic repair skill abilities or certifications such as basic/advanced soldering, wire-wrap, and/or connectorization.

3. Experience gained at a MOTU, FTSC, NAVSEACENLANT Det, or RMC is not required, but is a plus.

4. Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the fabrication, testing, and modification of electronics components.

5. Comprehensive knowledge of an ability to use the related tools, equipment, and systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Some portions of the work is typically performed in an industrial, shipboard, or shipyard environment, which requires proper safety precautions. The work requires moderate physical effort in the handling of materials, tools, cables, and other equipment. Must be able to carry up to 50 pound loads.

Job Description: Work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of U.S. Government and provide technical subject matter expertise in the field of system engineering and communications modeling and simulation including emulators, prototypes, simulators, and stimulators, either statically or over time, to develop data as a basis for making managerial or technical decisions. Support and participate in the design, test and implementation of communications systems by performing modeling and simulation activities, and by analyzing, documenting and briefing the results.

Required Skills:

� � Must have initiative and ability to work independently as well as within large and small groups.

� Must have knowledge and practical experience with technologies that operate in the HF, VHF, and UHF frequency ranges.

� Understands the principles of Radio Frequency (RF) propagation and can apply that knowledge to multiple communications technologies.

� Demonstrated experience in performing RF simulations with a commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) tool

� Demonstrated ability to apply RF propagation knowledge and perform complex RF propagation simulations using a COTS product.

� Familiarity with the technical characteristics of wireless standard waveforms, such as GSM, CDMA, 802.11, and 802.16, and be able to use that information in the development of RF propagation models as well as interpretation of results.

� Understanding of different types of propagation models and when to use them.
