Key Role:
Serve as a strategic consultant to government science and technology research and development clients. Contribute to a DoD investment for advancing the state of the art in a wide range of physical sciences-based technologies by combining strategic planning and technical analysis. Assist clients with developing and researching ideas for the formulation of new programs. Provide in-depth expertise in the assessment of proposals to determine the technical merit of proposal objectives and methodologies. Conduct background research and interface with the research community at large to evaluate the feasibility of new technological concepts and shape research program goals. Assist with the management of high-risk research programs. Generate and present comprehensive technical briefings, technical papers, and strategic recommendations to colleagues and clients and perform and publish original technical analysis in support of client needs.

To support ICF International's dynamic growth, our Fairfax, VA office seeks Associates to work in our Environmental Risk and Toxicology line of business. This group within ICF provides toxicology, safety assessment, risk assessment, and related support that address the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals, microbes, and radionuclides. We specialize in identifying and quantifying the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment. Your project work may involve ecological risk assessment, population exposure assessment, environmental impact assessment, environmental data analysis, statistical analysis, public comment analyses, or public outreach. Associates will assist with ongoing modeling and other quantitative analyses for U.S. EPA, USDA, NASA, American Chemical Council and other public and private clients in support of risk assessments of pollutants.
Technical writing is an integral aspect of all of ICF's risk assessment projects. Associates work on multiple projects concurrently and assume an active role on project teams as an analyst. Associates work closely with junior and senior scientists in ICF's Fairfax, VA, headquarters and elsewhere. This position offers the potential for advancement.
Requires: Master's degree with a GPA of at least 3.0 required in environmental science, biology, chemistry, environmental engineering, or related subject. Preferred candidates will have experience in risk assessment, use of geographic information systems (GIS), and computer modeling. Candidates with excellent written and oral communication skills, who are organized, detail-oriented, and have the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and the ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment are encouraged to apply.

Provide general knowledge and subject matter expertise in the areas of nuclear technology and radiation detection. Provide program management support and interagency coordination of research and development initiatives and the strategic planning for development of radiological detectors. Interagency duties include intelligence community coordination for the identification of detection requirements and the analysis of current capabilities versus future requirements to determine gaps, and make recommendations to close these gaps.
